The abduction of a child is one of the most hideous crimes that can ever be perpetrated. Most children are found and returned to the parents. In the most severe of cases the child is never recovered and many have become homicide victims where their body has not been located.
These cases, although high profile, can go cold. Ultimately they are placed on a shelf. These cases are never forgotten by the investigators but time passes and cases with leads and suspects become of a higher priority. Over the years investigators retire, witnesses die, evidence gets old.
